Lysoveta LPC Omega-3 by Aker BioMarine with OmegaBrite

Lysoveta is an LPC-rich omega-3 marine oil from Aker BioMarine that provides EPA and DHA in a specialized LPC-bound form. Aker BioMarine developed Lysoveta for targeted omega-3 delivery to organs such as the brain and eyes.*

The science sounds technical, but the central idea is simple. Your brain and eyes need omega-3 fatty acids for healthy cell membranes and normal function. The blood-brain barrier and blood-retina barrier carefully control which nutrients enter these tissues and how they are transported.

LPC omega-3 provides DHA and EPA attached to a natural carrier called lysophosphatidylcholine, or LPC. Research has identified MFSD2A as a specialized transporter that recognizes LPC-bound fatty acids and carries them across protective barriers.*

Think of MFSD2A as a VIP express lane. LPC is the pass, DHA and EPA are the nutrients, and MFSD2A is the transporter.

OmegaBrite created LPC Brain Elite with Lysoveta to provide LPC-bound DHA and EPA for targeted brain and eye omega-3 support.*

What is Lysoveta?

Lysoveta is an LPC-rich marine oil made from concentrated Antarctic krill oil. It supplies EPA, DHA, and choline across several natural lipid forms, including the specialized LPC-bound form.

According to Aker BioMarine, Lysoveta is designed to provide more targeted delivery and greater uptake of DHA and EPA in organs such as the brain and eyes.*

“Lysoveta provides LPC-bound EPA and DHA designed for targeted omega-3 delivery to the brain and eyes.”*

OmegaBrite uses Lysoveta in LPC Brain Elite, a NeuroReady Nutrition formula created for targeted brain and eye omega-3 support.*

What does LPC mean?

LPC stands for lysophosphatidylcholine. It is a naturally occurring phospholipid that can carry long-chain fatty acids such as DHA and EPA.

Think of LPC as a nutritional carrier. The omega-3 is the nutrient, while LPC presents that nutrient in a form recognized by a specialized transport system.*

“LPC is a natural carrier form for omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA and EPA.”

Why is LPC-rich omega-3 important?

The brain is protected by the blood-brain barrier, which carefully controls what can enter. Research identified MFSD2A as a transporter for LPC-bound fatty acids across this barrier.*

This discovery helped explain how the brain obtains DHA. When DHA is attached to LPC, it can use the MFSD2A transport pathway. Aker BioMarine also describes Lysoveta as providing LPC-bound EPA and DHA for targeted delivery to the brain and eyes.*

“The difference is not simply the amount of omega-3. The carrier form also matters.”*

Other omega-3 forms can still be absorbed and provide valuable nutrition throughout the body. LPC-rich omega-3 is distinguished by its specialized carrier form and relationship with transport pathways serving the brain and retina.*

What is MFSD2A?

MFSD2A is a specialized transporter found at the blood-brain barrier. One of its established roles is transporting fatty acids attached to LPC, including LPC-DHA.*

In plain language, MFSD2A acts like a controlled entry point. It recognizes the LPC-bound form and helps carry these nutrients across protective barriers.*

What does the research show?

Aker BioMarine reports that a 2026 preclinical animal study found significant enrichment of EPA and DHA in brain tissue and at the brain’s protective barriers after Lysoveta supplementation. These findings support the biological delivery of both omega-3 fatty acids in animal models.

How is Lysoveta made?

Lysoveta begins with concentrated Antarctic krill oil. During enzymatic hydrolysis, a lipase removes a fatty acid from phosphatidylcholine. This process initially creates 1-LPC, and some of it naturally rearranges into 2-LPC.

The finished oil contains LPC along with triglycerides, ethyl esters, free fatty acids, and remaining phospholipids. According to Aker BioMarine’s New Dietary Ingredient documentation, its LPC specification is a minimum of 19%, with cited batches averaging approximately 19.4% to 27.2%.

What support does LPC omega-3 provide?

  • Targeted omega-3 nutrition: Provides LPC-bound EPA and DHA in a specialized carrier form associated with transport to the brain and eyes.*
  • Brain health: Supplies omega-3 fatty acids that support healthy brain structure and normal function.*
  • Memory, cognition, and focus: Provides nutritional support for healthy memory, cognition, focus, and brain function over time.*
  • Eye health: Supplies DHA and EPA for omega-3 nutrition supporting the retina and healthy eye function.*

How is LPC omega-3 different from conventional omega-3?

Conventional fish and krill oils can provide valuable EPA and DHA throughout the body. LPC-rich omega-3 has an additional nutritional distinction because some of its EPA and DHA are attached to LPC.

“Other omega-3 forms provide important nutrition. LPC-rich omega-3 adds a specialized carrier form connected with transport pathways serving the brain and retina.”*

This does not mean conventional omega-3 forms are not absorbed. The difference is the molecular carrier form and how LPC-bound fatty acids interact with specialized transport systems.
